It was Francis who devised and deployed the first strategic intelligence system in the field of philanthropy at the Université de Montréal, in 2003 .

He has delivered lectures on strategic intelligence for the Master’s programs in Information Sciences at McGill University and the Université of Montréal. He also addressedthe Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement in 2007.

Francis Marin holds a Master’s Degree from the Université de Montréal; his Bachelor’s from the Université du Quebec à Montréal and has been an active member of the Montreal Circle, the Society for Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP), the American Professional Researcher Association (APRA), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Alliance Numérique and the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
